What about the Little Things!

What about the Little Things!

In an Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® lesson, we turn our attention to the little things. In order to bring something into our awareness, it is essential that we slow everything down to notice what was passing us by at record speed! Fast is great, but it means what we do fast is already wired into our nervous system. So we need to work on improving that action, by recognizing where something might not be as efficient, that takes slowing down.

In conversation, taking the time to sense, feel, listen and actually hear what it being asked – that takes slowing down, or, I’ve noticed, you might be holding onto the last thought but didn’t really hear the new thought. Pause, rethink how to share, after all, for me it’s my intention to share that becomes most important. When there is a constraint, find a way within the constraint to allow your intention, your attention to hear, sense, feel, see and act accordingly with what feels pleasant, efficient so that these sensations begin to wire in to our nervous system. Feel the improvement of listening to the little things we encounter and slowly begin to build on that pathway. I am grateful for our ability to reach so many now via the social media platforms, nonetheless, take the time to really communicate your intention so that others may hear your message and find their way.

A new month approaches this week and I’m grateful for the warmer weather, the longer days, more leisurely time in a day to enjoy the abundance of light. There are four ATM classes for you to enjoy. I hope to share with you the little things of how we process, build upon into a sense of ease, comfort and improving abilities where we can move forward. Things to be grateful for!

The lessons are designed to improve ability, that is, to expand the boundaries of the possible, to turn the impossible into the possible, the difficult into the easy and the easy into the pleasant. For only those activities that are easy and pleasant will become part of a person’s habitual life and serve them at all times. Moshe Feldenkrais
