Trials & Tribulations
Trials & Tribulations
First the internet connection blew a fuse, this week our email company went down. My apologies for sending this late.
There’s a song, by the Carpenters that shares something to me that’s really important; “Sing, Sing a song, sing out loud, sing out strong, sing of good things not bad, sing of happy not sad…”
What do you chose to pay attention to and how does that make you feel? There is so much tumult in this world and yet as I peruse the annals of history I continue to see a re-cycling of the same nonsense and what I refer to as the inhumanity of humanity. How do we begin to change this, even a little bit? What do we focus on?
In my field of work, it’s clarified that every thought, every emotion has a muscular configuration. This isn’t wrong however, can you feel the difference in how thoughts move us into a way of being. Reflect on something that makes you happy or excited in a good way, notice the way your body, your mood is affected. Then create a comparison with something less optimal, maybe it makes you feel sad, or angry or disappointed as these are normal emotions that are part of our living experience. Pause for a moment and be in that place, that mental, emotional and physical experience, how does that feel within as well as externally as you move through your day and activities? Now compare and go back to something that allows you to feel improved, notice the differences. How do we find a different pathway when we notice our energy, mood and emotions are moving in a direction, we can begin to shift and create a change. We’re honing skills as to how to do this.
I believe that the unity of mind and body is an objective reality. They are not just parts somehow related to each other, but an inseparable whole while functioning. A brain without a body could not think… the muscles themselves are part and parcel of our higher functions. This is true not only of higher functions … which are impossible without muscular activity, but also of thinking, recalling, remembering and feeling. – Moshe Feldenkrais
Life puts before us trials and tribulations. The Blues were created from people that through music could vent their frustration, anger, the inhumanity imposed on them. From that, this body of music that America developed, people of color gifted our world with a music that uplifts our spirit so that they and we could move forward.
Can we move forward together, sing a song, do a dance, get on the floor and explore an Awareness Through Movement® lesson and change your state, mood, physical experience for something so much better that can help each one of us lift up and move forward to a better world for all. I’m gonna keep exploring this and hope you will be curious also to join me in this quest.
I welcome you to join me for 4 afternoon ATM lessons this week. If you don’t already receive the links, get in touch and it’s a pleasure to share the links for whenever your schedule permits.
Hope to see you on the floor!
Warmest,
Peggi
