Three Brains Communicating
Three Brains Communicating
You know of the brain in your head, but science shows we have a sort of brain in our gut and our heart. Our brains receive and release neuro-transmitters and inhibitors, communicating from our lower pelvic region (gut), our chest and head. We are best when they are communicating with each other. The Feldenkrais Method teaches the entire body to act and react to stimulus and organization.
I suspect this is what Helen Keller was sharing in her life long quest of investigating the senses. How can we awaken all our senses? Here’s a lesson Moshe and David Ben Gurion learned from Helen when they met in Tel Aviv and drove with her around the desert. She shared it was about to rain, both Moshe and David seemed confused. Soon after the skies opened and it poured! Moshe was delighted upon realizing Helen’s refined internal sense of temperatures and atmosphere. Moshe often shared to his trainees he was fine tuning his ability to measure sensations and was continually improving his skills, learning and improving.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller
As we begin a fresh new year, I hope you will join me this week for 4 ATMs where you can improve your strategies for learning and integrating information. Notice what feels easier, simpler recognizing your bias. Let’s find any resistance by going slower, so you can use quiet to pay attention. Then smaller movements will allow you to discern subtleties. In Functional Integration (FI)® a practitioner finds where you are at and works from that point. In Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® classes you will learn how everyday movements can be constructive or constrictive to your overall mindfulness.
I send out personal invitations to classes with dates and times. If you would like to be included, please reach out to me.
Wishing you a peaceful and restorative upcoming week,
Peggi
