Whatever You Can Dream You Can Begin

Whatever You Can Dream You Can Begin

At the beginning of our new four year Feldenkrais training program I had a realization. With a program full of many trainees of all ages, careers and desires, each full of hopes and dreams and yet, concepts in the beginning are elusive for many. Some trainees want learning to be realized right away, while in fact, this is a process. If the learning process is rushed, the body is pushed into resistance which requires additional effort.

How to begin to awaken to a sense of not doing where the pathway evolves, using our senses that lead us into a more effective action. Offering an improved strategy for learning and integrating information: Meet any resistance by going slower and smaller.

As I shared in the newsletter last week, you have thoughts that are looping in your brain. By simply taking an action you are in process, it begins. Now watch how it unfolds before your eyes. It’s vital to be open and curious so your mind can begin to pick up on the changes. Maybe the unknown will be at first unfamiliar although the lessons might have deep resonance within you as it comes to the surface.

This is often the experience in an Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® lesson. When we think we know what’s going to happen, are we present and in the moment, to follow the flow of what will take time to awaken? In the beginning the movements we make, we did them so early in our lives we might not recognize the process we were in during our initial steps. You don’t have to remember other than learn how to feel yourself, differentiating between the sense of strain and effort compared to natural light and easy.

To start on a journey it often seems as if the getting there takes longer than returning home. The return is more familiar, so take the time to come back home into your body and mind so you can reduce your determination to do and instead awaken to allowing a sense of ease without so much unnecessary effort. From that place of listening, within every student, therein lies a teacher. You become your own teacher!

I will be offering 3 ATM classes this week. Saturday I will be assisting “HABITS” with Feldenkrais Access so if curious and interested, reach out whether for my class links or for information for the Saturday 3 hour Workshop. All are welcomed!

Stay happy, healthy and hopeful!

Warmest,

Peggi
