What Motivates You

What Motivates You?

Many make New Year’s resolutions too often slip into oblivion of their original intent. What is the cause of this, where you lose your motivation and ambition to pursue a desired path? Pause for a moment to consider why you want this change and how it will improve your life. What derails your initial enthusiasm and ambition to follow through on taking action?

Start by clarifying why you want to transform yourself, and ask: why do you value this change? Getting clearer on the details and being specific helps you follow a strategy you can use, day by day. Maybe it’s about improving lift style habits, getting healthier, eating a more balanced diet, becoming more active, or how to meet someone whether friend, or a life partner…, all these potentials are more likely to occur when you take the time to really think about what you want, why you want the change and then creating a strategy to commit to daily that is doable. This gives you purpose and a way to manage how you follow through on desires, rather than making resolutions that fail to move you further in the desired direction.

Motivation is a by-product of getting clear about what you really want and what’s congruent, then making a decision and taking daily actions to move forward. Thinking begins the process, then make a decision and take action. You’ll feel better because you are now following through with your desire, making it your new reality.

An essential part of this process starts with honesty. Getting specific about who you are, what you’re capable of, and who you want to become is necessary to success. This enables you to set your pathway forward from where you are now. This provides a starting point for moving forward. Taking stock of what you really want and need reduces the energy drain of feeling unmotivated and giving up. Remember, you are not the same person you were a year ago. Acknowledge who you are right now to create a new launch point for progress. This enables you to set small, attainable goals to notice daily and a vision that continues to propel you forward.
