The Whole Versus the Parts

The Whole Versus the Parts

How would a brain exist without a body to survive? The parts of a human anatomy as well as the biological systems that keep us alive are multiple, and yet each part cannot stand alone. It is when there is an intimate relationship between all the parts to organize together that one finds an easier, more efficient way of not only surviving but living your life to a fuller capacity.

The Feldenkrais Method®, a dynamic learning system, awakens within each person, your awareness of how to coordinate all the moveable parts into a magnificent orchestrated whole. Some portions will initiate the desired movement while other parts will act in synergy to support your actions.

Like the conductor of an orchestra who is responsible for guiding and leading the musicians. This is how our brain, informs your body, and like the musicians, informs your brain as to where you are in time and space, working together as a whole.

The ability to not only hear, but listen, is another skill developed in Feldenkrais. This skill makes it possible to understand an intention, to sense and feel within, just like with the overtones that resonate from a sound. You can feel that deep within you just like a movement that feels elegant instead of strained and forced. The latter contracts and impedes, the former travels and resonates with freedom and ease.

The sensation of moving with more ease and comfort has profound affects in how we sense, feel and come to know ourselves. Due to the reduction of strain and unnecessary effort, you begin to feel improvement. All you need is your curiosity to help guide you. Sensing and feeling for this pathway to feel a cleaner, more connected awareness with the absence of forcing and pushing into resistance to achieve an outcome.

“…Hours of repetitive practice is hard work; hours of practicing awareness in movement or action remain the most absorbing and interesting time in our lives. The feeling of being alive relates to the awareness of growing to be oneself.” – Moshe Feldenkrais

For all the lovely Mother’s of any species in nature, hope you’ve had a lovely Sunday and keep celebrating anytime you desire it and I’m sure have earned it!

Warmest,
