The Learning Process

The Learning Process

When you are learning something new, the most important thing is, creating a daily practice, a few minutes everyday to begin to wire into your nervous system new information. In order for you to improve, you must be willing to try to connect through comparisons to find what serves you best. You are cultivating your sensitivity to recognize differences and discover where there is a pathway that feels simple and easier, so you are not creating a coercive action that over time irritates and wears you down. You begin to distinguish where ease and comfort are more long lasting and desirable.

The Feldenkrais Method® is just this approach. Beginning through developmental movements to tap back into what you have forgotten through conditioning to push into resistance and forcing something to happen. At times, you will recognize this experience while finding there are other pathways that enable you to arrive at the same desired outcome, but with less strain, effort and force. Changing a habit, requires you change the environment so the symptoms are not triggered. You have to find another pathway – as I share with my students, “All roads lead to Rome” , simply recognize when a habitual pathway is barring you from your desired outcome. Find another trajectory, maybe a slightly different movement to arrive at your destiny with greater ease.

“You’re not your circumstances, you’re not what happens to you, you’re what you make of it!” – Jon Stewart

I hope you will join me for Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® classes or, if you prefer, private sessions either hands on (Functional Integration/FI®) or virtual private sessions. Each class includes the audio file to download for daily practice that creates and builds your learning process moving forward. Whether you are able to attend my zoom classes live or receive the downloads to explore at your own time, notice what begins to evolve through a slow, gentle guidance of movement patterns.

Check around my website for more information, and watch for new Podcasts that will download this month to my Resource page. Also there is a new Ann Arbor 2 Feldenkrais training program opening for anyone looking to increase your skills whether you are new to this body of learning or a practitioner who seeks more awakening following your initial training program. Remember, you are what you make of your life, so never, never give up or give in – Persevere!

If you have read to this end, I hope I have earned the privilege of your time and attention.

Warmest,

Peggi
