The Importance of Lessons

How do we learn? What happens in our brain as we discover new ideas, concepts, explorations? These types of questions are integral to the Feldenkrais Method® and to learning in general. Much of teaching Feldenkrais is done through lessons, the same way you were taught growing up. When Moshe Feldenkrais established his method, he did it through lessons which have been passed down now through multiple generations.

I have just posted 19 new lessons up on my YouTube Channel for you to experience. It is important that you ease into the process by simply finding a quiet space, lie down on a comfortable mat, and listen to a lesson. You can follow along with my instructions as you see fit. The best place to be is, begin to assess how the instructions are affecting your body. How is your body affected by the ground? Are certain parts more in contact or less in contact? Do you feel parts of your body holding or tightening? When you follow the instructions do you sense a change? These are the sorts of questions that lead your brain to open and discover new ways to think about movement.

Often I’ve shared with my students what is the lesson for today? It’s not necessary to always go and explore a full ATM, of course you can and it’s wonderful, however, when a theme of a lesson eludes you, just listen and absorb what you can.

Those that receive my audio files of weekly lessons can always tap into a lesson, readily at hand. In addition as my holiday gift to any and all that visit my YouTube Channel, you can also access from the Resource page on my website as well as my weekly newsletter. So now you have 76 FREE lessons to play with. So many themes to awaken your mind and body to feel freer and renew a sense of the possibilities.

I’m also enthused and excited the upcoming Ann Arbor Feldenkrais Training is near full capacity with a few more openings for those of you interested in exploring at a more immersion level. Some of you may decide to have this inform your career, enhance your quality of life and others might join to learn how this can become something you awaken to that enables you, like me, to awaken you how on a daily basis you can and will improve the quality of your life. Remember, it’s not just how you move that improves, creating more options and possibilities but also when you move better, everything, the quality of your life exponentially improves because correct posture or as Dr Feldenkrais referred to as “acture” is more a matter of ones emotional growth and learning about self, instead of doing obsessive muscular contractions.

I will be teaching and offering Functional Integration (FI)® as well as Virtual Feldenkrais sessions in addition to my 4 afternoon ATM classes through the holiday season and of course continuing forward into 2023. I welcome you all to come and tap into your own potential. For those that would like to receive my weekly links for classes, all you need do is reach out and it’s my pleasure to send you the links each Sunday for the weeks offerings.

“The possibility of a pause between the creation of the thought pattern for any particular action and the execution of that action is the physical basic for awareness.” Moshe Feldenkrais/Amherst

Wishing you all the very best this holiday season in health, happiness, keep hope alive and continue to follow your dreams!

Warmest,

Peggi
