The Flow of Communication

Did you realize there is now evidence of the close connection between our heart and brain. The heart receives information 6 seconds before our neocortex gets the stimulation. It was believed that our neocortex was the central command center that regulated our body, thoughts and movement. As science continues to progress, we now know that our brain and heart have a bi-directionality of communications through our Vagal nerve. This is often referred to as the largest nerve in the upper portion of our body while the Sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in our lower torso into our legs. The Vagal nerve is a crucial component of our autonomic nervous system often referred to as a meandering nerve as it trails through our brain into our gut. The Vagal nerve as it trails into our gut, stimulating often in not so nice a way the Solarplexis, our upper belly above the navel, also is another brain. In today’s world, full of stimulation to the point of overload, many of us may be feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. A beneficial way to shift this over stimulation is to reset yourself through gentle, intentional movement. You may discover a pathway to experience a sense of soothing and calmness. While there are many modalities and techniques available, The Feldenkrais Method® which is a dynamic learning system, awakens pathways in our nervous system that activate learning from within for improvement in how we think, feel and move.

In order for these improvements in how we sense and feel ourselves to become more familiar and dependable, we need to explore gently to be in a newer, improved place through an easy daily practice. You get to chose when and where, and find how to add in something that will change your life for the better in the very beginning. All you need do is become aware of all the doing and pause from that to be more in that state of non-judgmental being and allow something new to awaken. Learning dawns on us as we continue this process and just like the dawn of any new day, you can find your way into a better day moving forward.
