Beliefs and How They Mold Us
Beliefs and How They Mold Us
How do beliefs shape how you think and feel? With Somatic Education the goal is to gain awareness of how your body reacts to thoughts and movements. By acquiring new skills you can change your beliefs about what is possible. The key is to understand manageable steps.
“The only thing permanent about our behavior patterns is our belief that they are so.” – Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais
The most important thing in life is to believe in yourself. Keep your mind open. Be generous of spirit and heart without a need to apologize for using your voice to express your thoughts and opinions. Fear is a natural experience for everyone. Too often it’s fear, a global contraction that holds us back, locked into patterns instead of learning, challenging, changing and growing.
“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” – John C. Maxwell
This relates to a daily practice of Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® lessons. Instead of a common belief that you don’t have time, you might pause and turn inward to explore a lesson. What stops you? Is there an internal conversation within you hesitating based on older beliefs of what you think you can or should do? Do you “put off til tomorrow what you can do today?”
You can become aware of these patterns, through the language you use. Scan how you sense your body in any orientation, develop awareness and feel – are you comfortable or not? What might you do to shift into a better experience? It only takes a few minutes to begin this process. You can continue, little bits at a time, revisiting these gentle movement as the benefits become cumulative.
I welcome you to join me for my weekly Feldenkrais ATM lessons, all you need do is reach out if you are not receiving my instruction email links. I’m quick to respond whenever I come across someone who is curious and interested. I’m always willing to create options and possibilities for easy, beneficial and non-judgmental learning together.
Private session whether virtual or hands-on sessions are known as Functional Integration (FI)®. Each session is crafted just for you, I honor where you are at and create a teaching process so you can use your body with greater ease and comfort. Maybe if you could pause your beliefs for a moment, what you might have thought impossible, actually becomes possible, easier, aesthetically pleasing and elegant.
I hope I have earned the privilege of your curiosity, time and attention and look forward to meeting and working together down the path.
Warmest,
Peggi
