What does Growth and Change look like
What does Growth and Change look like
Often, one is driven to hold onto what is known, familiar, and conditioned within one’s nervous system. There’s a sense of comfort in knowing what to expect; however, to truly grow and progress, we all need to recognize that change is necessary and creates surprises. Now think for a moment if the changes occurring are offering you something to learn and grow from, improving or regressing, and from each of these experiences, what are you taking away from that experience to improve the quality not only of your life but the lives of all?
“Nothing is absolute. Everything changes, everything moves, everything revolves, everything flies and goes away.” Frida Kahlo/artist
We are living in very turbulent times, and something I have noticed to aid my own health and awareness is learning from other cultures, far more ancient than our own Western philosophies, as they have persevered longer through many more centuries of changes and atrocities that have influenced how we think, feel, and learn. The teachings of Buddhism and ancient Vedic India are that a person contributes the most to the world through self-awareness. This is the primary focus of The Feldenkrais Method®.
Elevating our consciousness contributes to peace and creativity at every level, both personal and social. It’s global awareness that begins to allow for improvement and change, although this process is rarely fluid, as change is often resisted by those who would rather regress to maintain their habitual patterns. It’s not so easy, life is not so easy. Let’s turn our attention to finding more balance. Can we move through what’s complex and unfamiliar to awaken and allow for something better? This is my everlasting hope as each person was designed to be whole, conscious, and free. Unfortunately, modern life often pushes this vision of possibilities into the background, overshadowed by the noise of those who resist forward movement and cling to their habitual patterns, which distract and create chaos as newer and more independent options emerge. We are all preoccupied with everyday events of duties, demands, and distractions that disturb our sense of peace. Finding balance, especially in turbulent times, is a skill we all need to develop and harness. At times, it’s not just being aware, but also taking an action to do what is necessary to maintain your independence from those who would take it away.
“Our aim is to have constantly a sensation of oneself, of one’s individuality: this sensation cannot be expressed intellectually, because it is organic. It is something which makes you independent, when you are with other people.” George Gurdjieff
This process of learning is what I offer, whether through Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® classes, private personalized sessions to help support and offer more options and possibilities we are not focused on, as well as mentoring to continue your process in learning how to find more balance and what I share as finding your neutral.
I invite you to join me and continue growing in a way that allows you to feel free, independent of what another might impose. With each lesson you awaken your intelligent brain and nervous system to help guide you forward instead of falling back into habits that are important, but also begin to find ways to create newer, more efficient habits to inform you moving forward, not regressing back into the past.
I hope I’ve earned the privilege of your time and attention, and look forward to your interest in finding more options and balance in this dance of life.
Warmest,
Peggi
