Tuning In Creates Processes for Lasting Improvement
Tuning In Creates Processes for Lasting Improvement
To often we lose consciousness, an awareness to how we activate in life. This quick way of being simply became a rote pattern. When this happens, we are in our wired in habits. Awareness is replaced with compulsions that activate quickly without taking the time to pay attention to what, and more important, how we are doing even simple and mundane actions. Tuning in is when we direct non-judgmental attention to appreciate and awaken to how we are activating. This allows you to discern qualities of lightness in movement and thought where you recognize appropriate effort for the desired action. The sensations are one of ease with a smooth quality that guides us how to explore daily functions that indicate efficiency. Certainly when we are interested we awaken to learn something that intrigues us but once this is a set pattern as to how we do it, we can become complacent in comparing and learning different pathways.
“Through awareness, we can learn to move with astonishing lightness and freedom at almost any age. Do the simplest movement you can do… Hours of repetitive practice is hard work; hours of practicing awareness in movement or action remain the most absorbing and interesting time in our lives. The feeling of being alive relates to the awareness of growing to be oneself.” – Moshe Feldenkrais
You are better able to sustain any improvements through re-exploring Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® lessons you feel support you. There are many cultures where instead of striving to achieve and fix a problem, you learn how to approach a concern with curiosity in a non-judgmental approach. Anywhere kindness is paramount, there is less effort and the results are notable. A good thing to remember is that when you focus on a problem, you will have that problem the rest of your life. Shift your focus to one of curiosity and think about finding solutions and options where you explore different ways in to find improvements.
This requires slowing down which means it is not hard wired into your nervous system. In fact, as you go slowly, being in the present moment, you actually increase the “stickiness” or the sensations of integrating your learning. Now how slow can you go so that you can actually listen to how smooth and easy are your thoughts and actions. This way you can begin to awaken how to improve by tuning in. This slower approach enables you to notice an observe to realize options you might not have considered instead of evaluating that can interrupt a learning process with judgment.
It’s always nice to be able to join together in this process as I gently guide you to help clarify when we might have lapsed into habits. I invite you to reach out to receive my weekly links for ATM classes. Each class gives you an audio file to download and continue to play. Remember, there are thousands of lessons, many created as variations on a theme and each one is a puzzle as well as recognizing that like all of these lessons, they are also our life’s lessons how to find progress and a way into greater freedom how you think, feel and move.
I hope I have earned the privilege of your time, attention and curiosity this week and look forward to when we come together and potentiate awareness, choices and improvements.
I hope you all have an enjoyable Labor Day here in the US and if in another country, there are always wonders to enjoy in our similarities and differences.
Warmest,
Peggi
