Principles in Learning

There are many ways we learn things, good or bad, it’s all learning. When we can allow this process to be more enjoyable, how we assimilate and integrate this information can have improved results. Give yourself time to process the new information. This allows for an internal awakening which we call our awareness. It helps guide us to recognize new concepts and different ideas than our usual ways of being. Time to discern a difference, to suss out for yourselves what you are experiencing. You then can begin to distinguish what is the difference, is it in how to organize yourself? What were you thinking about and how many possible ways to address a concern? If you’re problem solving, having more options to consider as to how to resolve an issue gives more freedom in choice. It’s important to sit with the new information. This can be confusing as it’s not our known pathway. And just being able to pause and be in this confusion awakens an embodied research, fueled by our curiosity. Answers will come when you give the space without demanding to know.

Order matters. Just like building a home or apartment complex, start with the underpinning to secure a sound foundation to build upon. This too is our process in constructing an Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® lesson as well as private hands on session called Functional Integration (FI)®. Building on a structure, follow the coherence, pause to reassess are you in your process to learn something new and different or have you simply lapsed into a more hardwired pattern? Take it slow. It gives time to sense and feel and awaken to your internal awareness of your process whereas fast, while easy, is already wired into your nervous system as a habit. Habits are good, let’s develop even more optimal habits to build on a more efficient and congruent future! Being present will help guide you to recognize subtle differences. You needn’t name what the difference is just yet, it’s a process. Simply notice the sensations and how they make you feel. This is an enormous power available to each and everyone of us.

This week I will offer 3 ATMs and there’s more if you are interested in joining me with Feldenkrais Access for the 1st weekend Workshop of a new Series called Easy Tool Kit. Either way there are an abundance of lessons to explore and hope you find your way to join me one way or another as it’s all learning! And I for one prefer learning that is fun, enjoyable and playful!

“We have the choice to think whatever we wish. We do in fact have alternatives. I choose Awareness!” Moshe Feldenkrais

I look forward to playful explorations this week as we step into Spring literally as well as figuratively!

Warmest,
