Creation of Brain Maps
Creation of Brain Maps
Differentiation is where we make the smallest possible sensory distinctions between movements, comparing this to that, this builds brain maps. In order to change and increase the brain maps, you need to learn new patterns of action. To do this, it’s necessary to attend to components of different patterns. By comparing you are better able to re-organize yourself for greater ease and comfort in your life. Once we can begin to learn and integrate these more efficient patterns compared to rote repetitions, one is better able to multi-task for brain health.
Important to become aware how our Biological systems are self correcting. Our immune system knows not only where to go but also what to do to restore health. Your attention not only to what you are doing but more importantly, how allows for this self corrective property. Best to prioritize with a sense of comfort, feeling where you can do less, give a bit more space and time. This is the fastest and best way into creating more options. Also recognize that there will be mistakes, allow them without being judgmental so that you can learn from the mistakes. That’s why moving slowly and small allows the time and awareness to awaken so you can shift your doing while sensing for an easier pathway to move from.
Breathing in and of itself is movement and is the first indication when we are rushing, and not attending to ourselves. Too often this is when accidents occur. Your breathe is so subtle and allows for integration with everything you do. Think how you can approach any experience, especially one that you notice in the beginning is new and maybe a bit daunting with a sense of innocence, naivete’, patience and presence being in the moment. Explore successive approximations with a true lack of pushing so you allow for other options and permutations to evolve that awaken instead of feeling resistance and fatigue.
“The sign of an organized cortex: that never do you move one movement without the rest of the body being, doing something to help to perform the movement. That’s the object of begin an organism. It’s an organic movement and not a coercive, self-destructive movement.” Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais
Brain mapping lessons for this week to learn another way into the playground of life. Hope this piques your interest and look forward to seeing you on the floor or in my office. If you are not already receiving my newsletter or links for classes, reach out. Let’s have a chat and find what you are most interested in and from there finding more ways in forward action.
I hope I’ve earned the privileged of your time, curiosity and interest this first week of Fall.
Dancing into Autumn with the falling leaves and soon beautiful changing colors that nature shines on us.
Warmest,
